The Countess of Rosse and her Daughter
Anne Messel, the Countess of Rosse and her eldest daughter from her first marriage are shown in this photography. Anne Messel (later Parsons) was previously married to Ronald Armstrong-Jones, with whom she had a daughter and a son, before she married Michael Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse on 19 September 1935. The couple had two sons. Her eldest son Anthony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowden (from her previous marriage with Ronald Armstrong-Jones) married Princess Margaret. Madame Yevonde creates a picture-in-a-picture-like scenery for this portrait with the Countess of Rosse sitting in a frame while her daughter Susan stands in front of her with a little flower bouquet in her hands.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken by the renowned portraitist Madame Yevonde in 1938, showcases the elegant Countess of Rosse, Anne Messel, and her eldest daughter, Susan, in a picture-perfect moment of mother-daughter bonding. The Countess, who was previously married to Ronald Armstrong-Jones and had two children, Anne Parsons (later Wentworth-Stanhope) and Anthony Armstrong-Jones, Earl of Snowden, is seen sitting gracefully within an ornate frame. Her eldest daughter, Susan, stands in front of her, holding a small bouquet of flowers, creating a charming picture-in-a-picture effect. Anne Messel's second marriage was to Michael Parsons, 6th Earl of Rosse, on September 19, 1935. Together, they welcomed two sons, John and Michael. The Countess's eldest son, Anthony, made headlines when he married Princess Margaret in 1960, adding another layer of royalty to the aristocratic family. Madame Yevonde, a celebrated portraitist of her time, masterfully captured the essence of the Countess and her daughter in this timeless image. The photograph is a beautiful representation of the aristocratic elegance and high society charm of the 1930s.
