Desiree Pochonnet in the role of Sizerin, a fairy character, from the vaudeville spectacle "Les Trois Peches du Diable" (The Three Sins of the Devil) by Charles Varin and Lubize, which premiered at the Theatre du Gymnase in Paris in 1844. In this scene, Sizerin, accompanied by an officer, is shown in a moment of intrigue and suspense. The elaborate costumes and theatrical setting, beautifully illustrated by Alexandre Lacauchie and published in Victor Dollet's Galerie Dramatique: Costumes des Theatres de Paris in 1845, transport us back to the mid-19th century theatre scene.
