This exquisitely detailed hand-colored copperplate engraving, titled "Lackey Moth, Malacosoma neustria, and Caterpillar in Silken Tent on Leaf," was drawn and etched by the skilled artist Jacob L. Admiral for the second edition of "Naauwkeurige Waarneemingen omtrent de veranderingen van veele Insekten" (Accurate Descriptions of the Metamorphoses of Insects) published by J. Sluyter in Amsterdam in 1774. For this edition, the work was expanded from the original 25 plates to include an additional eight, showcasing the fascinating transformations of various insects.
