Little girl with a big problem... 17-year-old Barbara Windsor from Stoke Newington, is a little girl because she is only 4 feet 10 inches tall but she has a big problem. Barbara is a girl who is always taking the part of very young girls in shows on the stage and on TV. In fact she is very busy modelling childrens clothes, as well as appearing in a current stage show. Barbara is still growing up - but only in age - for she has tried various ways of trying to get taller but to no avail. She tried the old wives remedy of lying in bed. It didn t put on an inch, she went to the doctor, the prescription didn t work. Now she is working hard, in-between lessons at drama school. Bus she has been told Just stay as you are but then Barbara is not quite sure about this I can t be a school girl all my life. She has a problem.. if she grows up it will affect her work, but she just feels like growing up. 6th June 1955
