Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Austria

Stamp Card produced by Ottmar Zeihar - Austria. These cards enabled collectors to see stamps which they were unable to obtain, or afford. There is a complete set of 180 cards, some of the smaller countries had a very low printing run and are hence very rare. Used Zeiher cards are very hard to find as the embossed stamp design was not approved by postal authorities as it confused the function of the proper stamps! Date: circa 1904

EDITORS COMMENTS
Discover the captivating world of Ottmar Zeihar's Stamp Cards, a unique and intriguing philatelic creation from early 20th century Austria. These exquisite cards, published by Ottmar Zeihar, were designed to bring the beauty and diversity of stamps to collectors, who may have been unable to acquire or afford the real stamps themselves. The Stamp Cards feature a montage of various stamps from different countries and regions, showcasing their crests, coats of arms, and other distinctive designs. With a total of 180 cards in the complete set, some of the smaller countries and regions had very low printing runs, making them highly sought-after and rare collectibles today. These cards, which date back to circa 1904, were not approved by postal authorities due to the embossed stamp design, which could potentially confuse the function of proper stamps. As a result, used Zeihar cards are exceptionally hard to find. The Stamp Cards offer a fascinating glimpse into the philatelic world of the early 1900s, featuring a wide selection of unusual and regional stamps that may not have been readily available to collectors at the time. These cards are not only valuable collectibles but also serve as beautiful examples of the artistic and design sensibilities of the era. Whether you're an experienced philatelist or just starting your collection, Ottmar Zeihar's Stamp Cards are sure to captivate and inspire you with their intricate designs and historical significance. Explore the world of philately through these unique and unusual cards, and add a touch of history and charm to your collection.
