EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this charming photograph of the Farwig Public House, located in the heart of Bromley, Greater London. The image captures the main corner facade of this historic pub, which has been a beloved local watering hole since at least 1942, as evidenced by the trading record printed on the back of the photograph (available upon request). The Farwig, with its distinctive signage and inviting frontage, has been a staple of the community for over seven decades. The photograph, taken in the 1960s, showcases the classic design of the pub, which was owned and operated by the Charrington and Company Limited at the time. The building's red brick exterior, with its large windows and ornate details, exudes a sense of warmth and hospitality. The pub's name, "Farwig," is prominently displayed above the entrance, inviting passersby to come in and enjoy a pint or a hearty meal. The back of the photograph also reveals that the Farwig underwent a significant transformation in 1962, when it became a Co-op. However, despite this change, the pub has continued to serve its loyal customer base, providing a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of history and tradition. This photograph is a beautiful reminder of the rich history and character of the Farwig Public House and the role it has played in the community of Bromley, Greater London, for over 75 years.
